Today we will talk about Patient Circuit Pressure Alarms, how to install and use them.
Patient Circuit Pressure Alarms are used to help notify you in case of pressure reaching a dangerous point. They are easy to install on any type of anesthesia machine. All you have to do is hook up the line in series with your fresh gas outlet.
Patient Circuit Pressure Alarms are designed to ring at approximately 15 centimeters of pressure. When you are bagging your patient, this allows you to do so in a safer manner. If you wish to have a different pressure than 15 centimeters, the alarms are settable to your liking. Another use for the alarms is to warn you in case you forget to reopen the pop-off valve when the patient starts rebreathing on its own again.
The Patient Circuit Pressure Alarm requires very little maintenance. The standard 9-volt battery needs to be replaced once a year and if necessary, you can also readjust the pressure setting with a small flat screwdriver on the adjustment right here on the site.
