Why This Matters
Routine care of your HTP-1500 recirculating water pump goes a long way toward protecting your equipment investment and keeping patient warming performance reliable. Below you’ll find the full maintenance routine: daily inspections, a two-week flush cycle, yearly descaling, along with fixes for the three most common error codes: CHEC FLO, H1, and H2.
Works with Dispomed’s warming tables.
Safety First
- Unplug the unit completely before performing any maintenance.
- Only distilled water should be used in the reservoir.
- Never operate the pump when water levels are low. Once cleaning is complete, add a minimum of 750 mL of distilled water, checking that the level stays visible in the side sight glass and doesn’t drop below 50% capacity during operation.
Daily Checks
- Look at the white indicator on the pump’s side to confirm water level.
- The reservoir should stay at least half full at all times for the unit to function properly.
- Examine tubing and connection points for kinks, cracks, or damage that table movement may have caused.
Biweekly Routine
- Confirm the pump is unplugged.
- Remove the black cap and drain the reservoir fully.
- Add a minimum of 750 mL of distilled water back in, keeping the level visible in the sight glass and above 50% capacity once running.
Yearly Deep Clean
- Drain the reservoir completely.
- Add roughly 1 L of a distilled water and white vinegar mix (50/50 ratio).
- Set target temperature to 100°F (38°C).
- Run the pump for 15 minutes.
- Shut off and drain the reservoir.
- Refill with 1 L of plain clean water.
- Run for another 15-minute cycle.
- Shut off and drain once more.
- Add back at least 750 mL distilled water, confirming the sight glass shows the level at or above 50%.
- Your unit is now ready for use.
Troubleshooting Guide
“CHEC FLO” Error
Signals that water flow is either too low or blocked.
Likely Causes
- Reservoir water level dropped too low.
- Tubing has kinks restricting flow.
- Sediment buildup inside is blocking circulation.
Steps to Resolve
- Drain the reservoir and refill with approximately 1 L of a 50/50 distilled water-vinegar solution.
- Set temperature to 100°F (38°C).
- Power on the pump.
- Pinch one of the clear tubes about once per second, continuing for 1–2 minutes to loosen sediment.
- Allow the pump to run for 30 minutes.
- Power off.
- Swap the inlet and outlet connections to run a backflush.
- Power on again and let it circulate for 30 more minutes.
- Power off and drain the reservoir.
- Refill with 1 L of clean water.
- Run for 15 minutes.
- Drain again and refill with at least 750 mL distilled water.
- Contact our service team if the error hasn’t cleared.
“H1” and “H2” Errors
Both indicate the pump has exceeded a safe temperature threshold.
H1: First threshold reached – heating stops, but circulation keeps running.
H2: Second threshold reached – both heating and circulation shut down.
Steps to Resolve
Power down the unit and give it several hours to cool completely before restarting. Once cooled while unplugged, the alarm typically resets on its own.
